Happy Halloween from the Hinterland Who’s Who team!

Halloween is just around the corner! While you prepare your bat, werewolf and owl decorations and costumes, why not learn about the Canadian species behind these creatures of the night? Although many are scared of bats, did you know that because of echolocation, there is little chance of one getting caught in someone’s hair? Or that there are no records of the highly feared wolf, the species behind the werewolf myth, actually preying on humans in Canada or the United States? Also, people are often unnerved by the eerie call of the Great Horned Owl. But this bird of prey is partly responsible for the management of some “pest” species’, like mice, populations!

Learning more about these species is a great way to help conserving them!

(It might also help them be less scary to you or someone you know!)

Have a happy and safe Halloween!
